Apple News provides a fairly hostile user experience on iOS devices and Macs by hijacking apple.news URLs for use by the Apple News app. Unfortunately, this sometimes prevents links from being opened without the app installed, and the apps themselves have a variety of other UX issues at odds with the open, linkable, searchable, sharable nature of the web.
